Fire-Resistant Glass

Fire-resistant glass is a specialized architectural safety material engineered to impede the spread of fire and smoke during a fire event. Its performance is rigorously evaluated based on two critical criteria: fire integrity (the ability to remain intact and prevent flame passage) and thermal insulation (the capacity to limit heat transfer). This type of glass undergoes advanced processing techniques to maintain both structural integrity—and, depending on the type, thermal insulation—for a specified duration under standardized fire-resistance tests.

Fire-resistant glass is broadly categorized into two types:

1. Composite Fire-Resistant Glass
Constructed from two or more layers of glass bonded with one or more interlayers of water-soluble inorganic fire-retardant gel, composite fire-resistant glass offers excellent thermal insulation properties in addition to fire integrity. It effectively blocks radiant heat, making it ideal for applications requiring both fire containment and temperature control.

2. Monolithic (Single-Ply) Fire-Resistant Glass
This type features a single-pane glass structure that maintains fire integrity for a designated period—preventing flames and toxic combustion gases from passing through—but does not provide significant thermal insulation. It is optimized for applications where visual clarity and fire compartmentalization are prioritized over heat barrier performance.

Key Features

· Fire Resistance: Achieves fire integrity ratings of ≥1.00 hour or 1.50 hours, as certified by standardized testing.

High Light Transmittance: Offers excellent optical clarity, preserving natural daylight and aesthetic appeal.

· Thermal Stability: Performs reliably across a wide temperature range (–20°C to +50°C) without visible degradation or distortion.

· UV Resistance: Maintains long-term transparency and structural performance under prolonged UV exposure, resisting yellowing or clouding.

· Exceptional Impact Strength: Demonstrates 6–12 times the strength of annealed glass and 2–3 times that of tempered glass at equivalent thicknesses.

· Enhanced Safety: Upon breakage, fragments are smaller and less sharp than those of tempered glass, significantly reducing the risk of injury.

Applications

· Composite Fire-Resistant Glass:
Ideal for interior fire-rated partitions, corridor glazing, fire doors and windows, stairwell enclosures, and other critical areas requiring both fire integrity and thermal insulation.

· Monolithic Fire-Resistant Glass:
Suited for exterior curtain walls, façade windows, skylights, smoke barriers, frameless fire-rated doors, and non-insulating fire partitions where high transparency and minimal framing are desired.

Compliance & Certification

· Complies with GB 15763.1–2009: Safety Glass for Buildings – Part 1: Fire-Resistant Glass (China National Standard)

· Certified under the China Compulsory Certification (CCC) system for fire-resistant safety glass.
